Woodlands

Woodlands offers a very unique service to individuals with learning disabilities, who may also have mental health needs, challenging behaviours or physical disability.

Woodlands is set within the Beechwood College campus and provides residential care with nursing in an environment which facilitates access to education, lifelong learning and social integration.

Woodlands offers the best of a social care model underpinned with the skills and expertise of nursing and a multidisciplinary clinical team. Both our physical environments and our staff teams are able to support individuals with levels of challenging behaviour that may have prevented them in the past from developing their skills and accessing community facilities.

Woodlands offers individually tailored care and educational plans through
one to one sessions provided by a dedicated unit tutor. We create opportunities to enhance quality of life, to increase independence and adaptive behaviours, improving confidence and self esteem.

Therapeutic opportunities available at Woodlands include access to psychology, psychiatry, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and dietetics. Facilities are available for individuals to access sensory environements and engage in music, art and craft, drama, IT, cooking and domestic skills, literacy and numeracy as well as participating in a variety of sports and outside activities within the beautiful grounds of the college.

There is an emphasis of developing community skills by participation in community based sports (trampoline, swimming, cycling) as well as the development of other leisure and occupational interests including voluntary work and paid work placements.
